KLezmer Orchestra from Sejny plays under auspices of the Kulczyk Foundation

Our cooperation with the Kulczyk Foundation started 7 years ago. Every year during the festival, one of the concerts is dedicated to the memory of late Jan Kulczyk and continues the work of this great Polish philanthropist, promoting mutual respect among people of different cultures, backgrounds, religions, social and cultural groups.

Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejny Theatre is one of greatest ever local initiatives in Poland. It takes from multicultural heritage of the city of Sejny and following  the rule: from generation to generation, it develops it for the future generations.  The orchestra has real and positive influence on sustainable development of the city and the region, as well as have helped many local inhabitants to find their way into the future and influenced their life choices. This is precisely in-tune with activities of late Jan Kulczyk and also with aims and goals of the Kulczyk Foundation – this is why we decided to dedicate this concert to the memory of Dr Jan Kulczyk.

Young musicians from Sejny will perform together with the legendary klezmer musicians from New Your, members of Grammy Award winning group The Klezmatics: Frank London and Lorin Sklamberg.

The first concert under auspices of the Kulczyk Foundation was held at the Jewish Culture Festival in 2016. It was opened by Dominika Kulczyk and Tad Taube.
